Our School

The name “Lighthill” was derived from Matthew 5:14, a verse in the Bible that says, “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.” As an International Christian School we want our students to grow in the knowledge that they are loved and accepted by God and in the community, nurturing them to be compassionate individuals, ready to

“shine their light” to their families and the people around them.

Who we are:

We are a community of love and grace

Children who feel loved and cherished thrive. We aim to help raise happy children by guiding them with love, time, and effort to reach success in a learning environment where they can experiment, take risks, make mistakes, and learn and grow from them. In addition, we aim to nurture empathy and compassion within each child.

“A new command I give you: LOVE one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”  -John 13: 34

We accept each student’s uniqueness

We understand that each child has their abilities and strengths. They also learn in different ways, so we design our curriculum and each lesson to cater to these different types of learners.

“Before I formed you in your mother’s womb, I chose you. Before you were born I SET YOU APART.” -Jeremiah 1:5

We embrace diversity

Our teachers and staff are composed of people from different countries. By exposing the students to other cultures, teaching them to learn a new language, and celebrating multiculturalism, we aim to help raise each child as a true global citizen who is aware of the world and has a sense of their role in it.

“For you are ALL children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all ONE in Christ Jesus.” -Galatians 3:26,28

We strive for excellence

Our program supports the Holistic Development of children. We pay attention to children’s physical, personal, social, emotional,  spiritual well-being, and cognitive aspects of learning.

"Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely. Whatever is admirable - if everything is EXCELLENT or praiseworthy, think about such things." -Philippians 4:8

Kids in Church

"Language is the gateway into another culture"

Studies have shown that being immersed in two or more languages before the age of 6 will result in the following:

  • Develop Better Brains: Children who speak more than one language have an increased intellect, a better memory, and greater attention and inhibition processes. They are better at multi-tasking, making decisions, and problem-solving. They tend to score higher on entrance exams and other tests.

  • Build Social Skills: Children who speak more than one language have stronger communication skills, increasing self-esteem and confidence in social interactions and expanding interpersonal skills.

  • Provide Global Perspective: Children will gain a global and cultural awareness to appreciate, understand, respect, and interact with people from all over the world. When children are taught about other cultures and ways of life, it will help them develop a lifelong love of learning, education, and curiosity.

  • Create Pronunciation Proficiency: Children who learn a new language from a young age develop a native pronunciation and a natural way of speaking.

What is Holistic Education?

“Holistic education focuses on the fullest possible development of the person, encouraging individuals to become the very best or finest that they can be and enabling them to experience all they can from life and reach their goals.”

A holistic approach aims to support the development of the whole child:

Our teaching methods include but are not limited to:

  • Experiential Learning: We incorporate holistic, experiential techniques that include problem-solving-type activities in our daily routines. This involves using investigation and discovery to find new information.

  • Self-Guided Learning: We allow the students to learn at their own pace in the style that best suits them. Our class is smaller in student size, and all students are given personalized attention. We also provide Learning Centers that will help students learn new things independently and foster creativity.

  • Collaborative Learning: We actively engage learners to process and synthesize information and concepts rather than using rote memorization alone. Learners work together while being guided by their teachers to understand the concepts being presented to them.

Benefits of our Holistic Curriculum

  • Develops Well-Rounded Children: Holistic learning is designed to ensure students grow and appreciate all aspects of life: academic, physical, social, spiritual, etc. This helps to ensure children are balanced and well-prepared in approaching new situations that they will encounter throughout their life.

  • Builds Confidence: Teachers instill and help students build confidence by providing them with various opportunities to succeed. A holistic curriculum enables teachers to recognize students’ unique strengths and treat them all equally.

  • Incorporates Spiritual and Emotional Reflection: Teachers provide moments for students to pray, reflect, and meditate on the positive teachings of the Bible to ensure that they are emotionally and spiritually healthy. The students are taught empathy and compassion to promote social harmony and reduce the likelihood of bullying.

  • Enhanced Mental & Emotional Well-Being: We offer a supportive environment where social and emotional learning is emphasized along with academics. Students have a better chance of emerging with self-awareness, confidence, and a sense of social responsibility.

Online Curriculum

"We must train and educate our children to succeed in the 21st century"

  • Provide Fun Interactive Learning: This online curriculum makes learning fun by using games, songs, videos, online readers, and other interactive activities. It reinforces what is learned through traditional teaching methods in class. Children will develop a love for learning and never get bored.

  • Continue Learning at Home: Children can access the website or application from anywhere using a pc, tablet, or smartphone. It is very convenient and easy to use; most children will require no assistance.

  • Develop Technological Skills: Children will learn how to use computers, tablets, and smart phones. They will develop confidence in navigating technological devices. This is an important skill to develop in this day and age.
